NP, BSO stage protest

QUETTA – The activists of National Party and Baloch Students Organisation-Pajjar and took out a rally on Sunday in Dalbandin town of the Chagai district to protest the atomic explosions carried out in the mountains of district on May 28, 1998, calling for providing relief to the affected people.
The rally, led by National Party district president Muhammad Tariq Baloch, started from the party secretariat culminated in gathered in front of Dalbandin Press Club after marching through various roads of the city.
Participants of rally were carrying placards and banners inscribed with different slogans. They were also shouting slogan against nuclear tests in Balochistan.
Addressing the rally, Tariq Baloch, Sangat Saeed and Manzoor Elahi said that atomic blasts in Chagai’s mountains were the beginning of genocide of Baloch people. “Due to atomic radiation different diseases have taken place in Chagai including cancer,” they said, adding that a huge grant was announced in the name of the Chagai package after explosions but no practical steps were taken in this regard to provide relief to the people.
They demanded that medical teams should be dispatched to the district for providing medical aid to people besides ground water should be tested and steps should be taken to cure the people otherwise the situation would go worse.
They also criticised incumbent government for “arrests” and recovery of decomposed bodies of Baloch missing people and demanded immediate end to such acts.
